As the name suggests, it is the royal road to Delhi. It starts from the famous Rashtrapati Bhavan and goes to the National Museum of Delhi via Vijaychak, India Gate.
Rajpath is the ceremonial route of the Indian Republic. It is surrounded on both sides by trees, ponds and green lawns, being among the most important routes of India.
The annual Republic Day Parade is held on this road every year on 26 January. The funeral procession of popular Indian politicians passes through this road. While this road passes through the hills of Sidhi Raisena and ends at Rashtrapati Bhavan and a road from the northern side comes from Connaught place and joins it.
Important buildings around Raj Path include the Secretariat building, Rashtrapati Bhavan, the residence of the President of India, Vijay Chowk and India Gate.
Since there are politically important buildings in this entire region, this area is a highly protected area with a huge security system. The Delhi city was planned by the English architect Edwin Lutyens giving Rajpath an important place. The buildings around Rajpath were designed by Lutyens and another architect named Herbert Baker.
