Akshardham or Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple located in Delhi is a true depiction for Indian culture, architecture, and spirituality. It took 5 years to complete the completion of this temple complex which was completed under the efficient leadership of Swami Maharaj, the head of Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha. The temple has been built by 11,000 artisans including more than 3000 volunteers, the temple complex was officially inaugurated on 6 November 2005. Significantly, the temple is built keeping in mind the specifics of Vastu Shastra and Pancharatra Shastra.
Akshardham complex is divided into 5 major parts. The main temple complex is located right in the center. This 141 ft high structure consists of 234 magnificent carved pillars, 9 ornate domes, 20 shikhars, a magnificent Gajendra (stone elephants chair) 20,000 sculptures. In addition, statues of divine personalities, sages, devotees and saints have also been made here.
Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple is made of a mixture of pink sandstone and white marble, the thing to note in this temple is that steel (steel) and concrete has not been used in any part of the temple during the construction of this temple.
